The Jacoby Centre is located at Nutana Collegiate. The centre primarily works with mothers and mothers-to-be in an effort to provide the support necessary for these young women to be successful students and parents. Since this group often faces unique challenges, the Jacoby Centre aims to bridge the gap between parenting and education by building on their untapped strengths, knowledge, and insights. Our aim is to provide the support necessary to foster an empowered group of student mothers who have skills to succeed and to advocate for themselves, for others, and for their community.
In addition, the Jacoby Centre encourages the involvement of student fathers through inviting them to become engaged in programming that meets their unique needs.
The Jacoby Centre provides both formal and informal noon hour programming alongside a variety of other services that include offering individual counseling sessions, making referrals to school and community services, and ensuring that student parents have access to accurate and timely information about services and programs available within our community.
