The Jacoby Centre, one of 28 Community Action Program for Children (CAPC) projects in Saskatchewan, is funded by the Public Health Agency of Canada and falls under the governance of Health Canada. As such, the topics of childhood obesity, mental health, and childhood injury prevention - the mandate of CAPC sites—are an integral part of the centre's programming.

The centre - initially known as the SAKs Centre - opened in 1994 in response to student parents' expression of need to have a place that they could go during the school day that focused on their role as parents; they saw this support essential for them to be successful in completing their high school education. Millie Reynolds, a Home Economics teacher at the time and, the teacher who initiated these conversations with the student parents, was instrumental in the creation of both the SAKs Centre and Millie's Place (now known as Millie's Early Learning Centre), which opened in 1998. The SAKs Centre was re-named The Jacoby Centre in June 2009 to honour Paul Jacoby on his retirement from teaching and to acknowledge the generous financial contributions he continues to make through donating his artwork for many fundraising projects.

As part of the Integrated School-Linked Services team at Nutana Collegiate (ISLS), the Centre works closely with school staff and other agencies within the community.
